Former Orlando City Rookie of the Year Signs with SeaWolves
ORLANDO, FL - The Orlando SeaWolves are bringing another familiar face back to The City Beautiful. Today the team announced the signing of former Orlando City defender Tyler Turner. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreements will not be disclosed.
Turner is the 3rd former Orlando City player to sign with the SeaWolves joining midfielders Lewis Neal and Johnny Mendoza.
Just 22 years old, Turner has played for Orlando City in both the USL and MLS, and represented the US on the U17, U18, U20, and U23 National Teams. He spent last season with the USL’s LA Galaxy II. In 2016 the USL ranked him #4 on their Top 20 Under 20. Turner was named Orlando City's Rookie of the Year in 2014.
“Orlando holds a special place in my heart.” said Turner. “I have so many great soccer memories in that city. Great fans. Great soccer culture. I am excited to return to where my career jump started and to be a part of an organization looking to bring a championship to the fans."
“Tyler is a tremendous talent and fan favorite,” said SeaWolves General Manager Chris Kokalis. “Being that he is only 22 he has a very bright future ahead of him.”
The signing of Turner caps off a historic week for the SeaWolves who on Tuesday announced the signing of international futsal star forward Rico Zulkarnain.
Orlando will host the Brazilian National Minifootball Team on November 10 at Silver Spurs Arena. As a special bonus the team announced that the exhibition game will be added to season ticket plans at no additional charge if purchased by September 30. Fans who have already purchased season tickets will also get tickets to the November 10 game at no additional charge.
The SeaWolves will play 12 home games and 12 road games in the league’s regular season. The MASL represents the highest level of professional arena soccer in the world.
