FORMER COSMOS STAR WERNER ROTH NAMED MASL ADVISOR

Former New York Cosmos Defender Werner Roth has been named today as an MASL Advisor, by Commissioner Keith Tozer and the Office of the Commissioner.

Roth has been assisting the league in an unofficial capacity since the beginning of the season.

A former New York Cosmos teammate of MASL Chairman Shep Messing, Roth brings years of experience and knowledge to his new role with the indoor league.  One of his first roles will be serving as a member of the new MASL Player Health and Safety Committee.

He will also assist the Office of the Commissioner on a variety of projects in North America and international projects.

"We are pleased to bring someone of Werner's reputation and experience to the MASL," said Tozer. "He will serve as a valuable asset to the Office of the Commissioner as we continue to strive toward greater exposure and sustainability."

Roth played for the legendary Cosmos from 1972-79 and is a former captain of the star-studded Pele led team.  Werner also played for the USA National team and was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame in 1989.
