FINAL MASL INTERNATIONAL SHOWCASE GAME IN CEDAR RAPIDS TONIGHT

Stars from across the Major Arena Soccer League are in Cedar Rapids tonight for the final MASL International Showcase game between the United States and Brazil. Players representing teams from across North America are scheduled to play in the game at the US Cellular Arena, with the game kicking off at 7 p.m. in Cedar Rapids. This is the fifth and final exhibition game featuring players from around the league, and the second time the United States and Brazil will square off. Brazil beat the United States in Ontario, Calif. earlier in September. Mexico won two out of three games from the United States in games played in Ontario, Cedar Rapids and Sonora, Mexico. Gordy Gurson of Cedar Rapids will captain the USA side and will join Matt Clare of the San Diego Sockers as the only two players to be making their fifth appearance in the series for the United States, having played in all the previous games for the U.S.  Players from the expansion Florida Tropics will make their debut in the game, with goaltender Piotr Sliwa and defender Anthony Arico playing for the United States, while the Chicago Mustangs will be represented by Taylor Bond and Ephraim Beard. The Dallas Sidekicks’ Ricardinho will be among the players suiting up for Brazil, joining Cedar Rapids’ player/coach Hewerton Moreira. The Major Arena Soccer League season opens Saturday,  Oct. 29th with three games on the schedule.
