El Paso Coyotes earn first franchise win in history of MASL at Coliseum

The El Paso Coyotes arena soccer team officially secured a spot in the history books.

The Coyotes opened the 2017-18 season in the Major Arena Soccer League with a definitive 8-4 victory at home against the Rio Grande Valley Barracudas on Saturday night, Oct. 28, at the El Paso County Coliseum. It is El Paso’s first win in the MASL. The Coyotes were winless last year, their first season in the league.

El Paso was led by Christian Gutierrez with a sizzling four goals. The team drilled in the winning five goals in the final period.

The 1-0 Coyotes, under head coach Jose Luis Treviño, now take on the San Diego Sockers at 7:35 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Coliseum, 4100 E. Paisano. Tickets cost $10, $15 and $25, and are available at the Coliseum Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets, by phone at 800-745-3000 and online at ticketmaster.com. Home games also feature Max the Coyote mascot, the Coyote Girls, music, games, giveaways and more. Concession and souvenir stands will be open.
