Dallas Sidekicks Outshine Stars

Allen, Texas (Feb. 4, 2017) – The Dallas Sidekicks move to 7-9 in Major Arena Soccer League play with a thrilling 4-3 win Saturday night to the Tacoma Stars.

The Sidekicks got off to a fast start scoring within the first five minutes of the game with a strike from VcMor Eligwe, his first of two goals in the quarter. Clint Ritter would also score. The Sidekicks defense stood strong as they held Tacoma scoreless in the period.

Similar to the first, the second quarter started off fast for Dallas as they scored within the first five minutes again, when Nester Hernandez would build the Sidekicks lead up to four. The defense again stood up strong allowing no goals in the period, do to a brilliant performance from goalkeeper Juan Gamboa who had a multitude of magnificent saves which kept the Stars off the board. The Sidekicks would take a 4-0 lead into the half. The last time the Sidekicks held an opponent scoreless in a half was on January 18, 2014, final score was against Tulsa 14-2 Win for Dallas.

The Dallas’ defense finally gave way in the third quarter as the Tacoma stars found the back of the net slicing into the Dallas lead, through what seemed like an impenetrable Dallas’ defense throughout most of the game up to that point. The Sidekicks still held the advantage 4-1 going into the final fifteen of play.

Tacoma continued to eat away at the Dallas lead with two goals in close fought, highly contested final quarter of play. Juan Gamboa would stand strong in the final seconds of a nail biter to preserve the Dallas lead and game. Cameron Brown would fail to score a goal in the game for the first time this season and in addition ending his streak of consecutive matches with at least one goal scored at 26 games, but the Dallas Sidekicks would go on to defeat the Tacoma Stars 4-3.
