Dallas Sidekicks Dismantle The El Paso Coyote In A 10-2 Opening Night Win

Allen, TX (Oct. 29, 2016)— The Dallas Sidekicks (1-0) win a thrilling home opener 10-2 against the EL Paso Coyotes (0-1) at New York Life field at the Allen Event Center ending our 2 game losing streak on opening night. Dallas Forward Cameron Brown shined, leading the team with a hat trick tonight. Dallas Sidekicks broke an arena record with 55 shots on goal tonight. With tonight’s win the Sidekicks are now 3-2 on opening night games.  

El Paso took an early lead 1-0 in the 3rd minute of play to open the scoring of the game and the 2016-17 MASL season. The lead lasted only minutes as Jamie Lovegrove netted the equalizer in the 5th minute. Two minutes later Cameron Brown put the Sidekicks up for good with a 2-1 lead. Two minutes into the second as Cameron Brown netted his 2nd goal of game extending the Sidekicks lead 3-1. Sidekicks’ defender TJ Nelson added a 26th minute goal to extend the lead 4-1. Minutes later Jamie Lovegrove would find the back of the net for the second time tonight to push the Sidekicks lead to 5-1. Cody Ellis would score in the finals seconds of the half to give the sidekicks a 6-1 lead going into the break. 

The Coyotes started the 2nd half off with a boarding foul by Kiley Couch resulting in a two minute penalty. Arthur Ivo would take advantage by putting in the Sidekicks 7th goal of night. Things started to get chippy in the third as multiple fouls and penalties were given to both sides throughout the period. The Coyotes would cut into the Sidekicks lead in the final seconds of the third by netting their 2nd goal of the night. The Sidekicks took 7-2 lead going into the final quarter of play.   

Cameron Brown found the back of the net once again in the 53rd minute giving him the hat trick for the game. Carlos Videla would score for the Sidekicks pushing the total to 9 goals. Fernando Garza added onto the lead, putting the Sidekicks up 10-2. Garza’s goal was the last goal of the night for either side as the match ended with the Dallas Sidekicks easily dispatching the El Paso Coyotes 10 goals to 2. The Sidekicks sent the fans home happy with the opening night win. 

Following tonight’s home opener, the Sidekicks embark on a three-game, three-day road trip that includes a stop on November 4th in El Paso, to face the Coyotes, a stop in San Diego on the 5th and a stop in Tijuana to face the Atletico Baja on the 6th.
