St. Charles, Missouri (December 17, 2023) – After last night’s loss against the Sockers, the Sidekicks visited St. Louis to take on the St. Louis Ambush. This was the first meeting between the two teams this season.

The first quarter of the game was slow with neither side seeing the back of the net. However, both sides had shots on goal with three for Sidekicks and four for Ambush.

The first goal of the game did not happen until five minutes into the second quarter when Ambush player, Robert Kristo, scored his first of the game. Despite Ambush’s seven shots on goal in the second, the Sidekicks kept together defensively with blocks from goalkeeper, Parker Lackland, and defender Moises Hernandez. At halftime, the score was 0-1.

In the third quarter, Robert Kristo, scored his second of the game at the six-minute mark. Six minutes later, Sidekicks responded with their first goal in the game with the goal by Nestor Hernandez with the assist by Albert Rodriguez. Going into the fourth quarter, the score was 1-2.

The fourth quarter was dominated by the Ambush with three goals scored for them. Ambush player, Lucas Almeida scored back-to-back goals only a minute apart from one another. After Almeida’s second goal, Sidekicks pulled the goalkeeper and Jamie Lovegrove was the sixth attacker. At the 11:42 minute mark, the Ambush scored the last goal of the game with the goal by James Togbah. The final score was 1-5.

The Sidekicks are back on the road next weekend as they take on the Texas Outlaws for the second time this season. Their first meetup ended in a 8-7 Sidekicks overtime win. Watch the game live on Twitch at twitch.tv/masl_soccer. Kickoff is at 7 PM.
