The Kansas City Comets (2-1-1) kick off another round of back-to-backs Friday evening when they pay their first of three visits throughout the season to the Milwaukee Wave (1-1-0).

The longtime rivals faceoff Friday night following last week’s meeting at Cable Dahmer Arena, where the Comets took a 4-3 overtime win. Lucas Sousa’s team-leading fourth goal of the season in overtime last Sunday gave the Comets two points in the standings with an overtime win.

Goalkeeper Nicolau Neto picked up his second win of the season last week with 17 saves and enters this weekend with a .807 save percentage. John Sosa is Kansas City’s points leader with seven points from two goals and five assists.

Still out this weekend are Ray Lee (right ankle sprain) and Henry Ramirez (right ACL rehab). Rian Marques (right ankle tendinitis) and Chase Bromstedt (left hamstring strain) are probable.

The Comets are joined by Utica City FC at the top of the Eastern Conference on six points, but a Wave win on Friday would push Milwaukee ahead of Kansas City.

The Wave enter their second week of action, splitting their first back-to-back last week with a 7-3 win over the St. Louis Ambush before losing in Kansas City. Andre Hayne and Ian Bennett have combined for seven goals in two games.

Since moving from Harrisburg to Milwaukee, goalkeeper William Banahene has conceded six goals and made 26 saves in two games.

Milwaukee does have the advantage in special teams, scoring on three of seven power-plays and killing six of seven penalties while the Comets have scored on two of nine power-plays and killed seven of 13 penalties.

Following Friday’s contest, the Comets return home for an I-70 battle with the St. Louis Ambush on Saturday, December 17 at 6:05 p.m. CT. Tickets are available for Saturday’s match-up at
