COMETS RE-SIGN JAMES TOGBAH

Coach Roentved excited about young defender’s potential

KANSAS CITY (July 16, 2018) – The Kansas City Comets announced today the re-signing of defender James Togbah for the 2018-2019 season. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Togbah joined the Comets early last season. In his first season of indoor soccer, the rookie defender showed a lot of promise and was one of head coach Kim Roentved’s priorities when evaluating players for the upcoming season.

“James did a great job for us last year. It usually takes a player 2-3 seasons to adjust to the indoor game, but James was able to pick up a lot in a short time. If he can continue to grow at the same pace, it could be a very good thing for him and the Comets,” said Roentved.

James was signed to the Comets on November 30 and made his first appearance on December 9 when the team traveled to Cedar Rapids. He played in 12 games throughout the season before missing the final four games for a trial with the LA Galaxy of Major League Soccer.

“I’m more than excited for this upcoming season,” said Togbah. “Last year was fun getting my hands in the water, now I’m ready to jump in. I am grateful to have this opportunity to play for such an amazing club and these heartwarming fans.”
