CHIHUAHUA, MX. –  The Comets (7-4-1) wrapped up a nightmarish road swing through Mexico and dropped their third straight south of the border, this one an 8-2 loss to the Chihuahua Savage (4-4-0) at Corner Sport Arena Friday Night. For the Comets, it was their fourth straight loss while Chihuahua won their second in a row.

Kansas City was playing from behind the entire game as Chihuahua scored the first two goals in the first quarter before Robert Palmer unleashed a shot that split two defenders from the neutral zone which ended the first 15 minutes of play with a 2-1 Savage lead.

A pair of goals by Chihuahua sent the teams to the break with the Savage comfortably in front 4-1.

Less than two minutes into the third quarter, Kansas City cut Chihuahua’s lead in half at 4-2 on a right-footed chip by Michael Lenis, assisted by Leo Gibson. That was as close as it would get for the Comets.

The Savage added a pair of goals in the third and fourth quarters to cruise to the 8-2 final in front of 1,252 fans.

Tonight’s game was the final time the Comets will play in Mexico though they will face the Savage one more time, at Cable Dahmer Arena on February 16 at 7:05 pm.

The Comets have three road games remaining before returning to the friendly blue turf. They play in Utica (Jan. 28), Baltimore (Feb. 2), and St. Louis (Feb. 4).
