COMETS ANNOUNCE THREE MEDIA PARTNERSHIPS

KANSAS CITY (October 26, 2021) – The Kansas City Comets announced today that the team has partnered with local media outlets Sports Radio 810 WHB-AM, the Kansas City Star and 38 The Spot (KMCI-TV) to provide coverage and content throughout the 2021-22 season.

The three-tiered media partnership is a first for the team since the Comets returned to action in 2010. All three media partners will promote the Comets brand and games through their various outlets.

Sports Radio 810 WHB: The Comets’ partnership with America’s largest all-sports radio station includes a season-long advertising campaign to promote Comets’ home matches at Cable Dahmer Arena and the team’s special match at T-Mobile Center in downtown Kansas City in January. Also, a majority of the Comets home games will be broadcast live on Sports Radio 810 or their sister station, ESPN Kansas City as part of the partnership. The radio station will also devote airtime to a weekly Comets feature, as well sharing digital Comets content on its social media platforms.

38 The Spot: The E.W. Scripps-owned, independent television station will broadcast at least five of the Comets thirteen home games this coming season. The sister station to KSHB 41, Kansas City’s NBC affiliate, will carry the Comets’ broadcasts with play-by-play announcer Nick Vaso and color man, Erik Bergrud. 38 The Spot will promote each broadcast home game with promotional announcements and commercials.

Kansas City Star: The Comets will have a dedicated update or story each week in Kanas City’s 141-year-old newspaper. The weekly update will feature brief highlights from the past week and a look ahead to any Comets matches during the upcoming weekend. The feature is set to appear in the newspaper on Wednesdays throughout the season.

“We’re going to provide our fans with unprecedented coverage this season,” said Comets Vice President of Business Operations, Scott Levinson. “We feel like for the first time, that we finally have the coverage our fans have been craving with games and commercials on Sports Radio 810 and ESPN Kansas City, games on TV with 38 The Spot, and a feature every Wednesday in the Star.”
