KANSAS CITY (October 25, 2017) – The Kansas City Comets announced the first nine players added to the team's 2017-2018 roster this afternoon, ahead of the team's annual Season Ticket Holder party. Among the players announced today, seven of them are returning from last season, while the other two have previously spent time in a Comets uniform. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreements were not disclosed.

Headlining the list of players returning is veteran Leo Gibson, who also adds Assistant Coach to his title for the 2017-2018 season. Gibson has been a central member of the Comets since the team returned to action in 2010. Since joining the Comets Gibson has scored 159 goals (182 including playoffs) and 143 assists (151 including playoffs), leading the team in both categories.

Head coach Kim Roentved is looking forward to having Gibson's experience and expertise on his staff.

"Leo has been one of the game's greats since he first joined the team," said Roentved. "I'm so glad that he was willing to step into this role to help me and the team."

Joining Gibson from last year's roster are veterans Lucas Rodriguez and Bryan Perez. The midfield duo accounted for 29 goals and 13 assists last season. 2016-2017 MASL All-Rookie Team midfielder Guerrero Pino and All-Rookie Honorable Mention Ignacio "Nacho Flores" will also be returning to the Comets this season, along with second year players Carlos Trombini and Gui Gomes.

Rounding out today's announcement is the return of Pat Kelly and Kiel Williams. Kelly was a member of the 2014-2015 Comets team and played the past two seasons for the Cedar Rapids Rampage. Williams was also a member of the Comets 2014-2015 team that went undefeated in the regular season that year. Williams scored 8 goals and five assists with the Comets through two seasons with the team.

The Comets are expected to make several more player announcements in the coming days as they prepare to open the 2017-2018 season at home on November 4th against the St. Louis Ambush at 7:05 p.m. CT. Season and Single game tickets are on sale now at
