Chilean International "Chupete" Suazo, coming to the MASL
Once thought of as one of the most lethal goal-scorer in the whole world, Chilean striker Humberto "Chupete" Suazo comes to the Monterrey Flash of the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL). The Mexican club returned to the MASL this season and is looking to lift the Ron Newman Cup once again. Per team and league policies, terms of the contract were not disclosed.
The forward's signing was announced today in a press conference in Monterrey City in Mexico, and will be immediately available for the game on Sunday December 17th at the Arena Monterrey against the El Paso Coyotes.
Born in San Antonio, Chile, Humberto Suazo started his professional career in 2002 with his city's team, San Antonio Unido. After passing through the rosters of three Chilean teams (San Luis de Quilota, Audax Italia and Colo-Colo), "Chupete" went to Rayados de Monterrey in the Liga MX, where he became the club's top goal scorer and won many different titles there. He was then loaned to Real Zaragoza in the Spanish League, before coming back to the Americas to play with Colo-Colo in his native San Antonio Unido. He was selected for the Chilean National Team from 2005 through 2013.
Suazo is one of many players with experience in Liga MX before coming to the MASL. Most recently, the Rio Grande Valley Barracudas signed Argentinian-Mexican striker Vicente Matías Vuoso to make the MASL stronger.
Suazo is expected to make his first appearance with the Monterrey Flash this weekend, December 17th. Watch that game, along with all MASL games each week, on MASL.tv
