Chicago inks household Mexican name

Mustangs add former America, Chivas star Luis Sandoval

CHICAGO (Nov. 9, 2016) – For the second time in 11 months, the Chicago Mustangs signed a former Mexican national team player.

Midfielder Luis Alonso ‘Negro’ Sandoval secured a three-year contract with the fifth-year indoor soccer team on Tuesday, Nov. 1.

Sandoval has an established career in Mexico’s top flight division, Liga MX. The Guadalajara native began his professional career with Chivas at the age of 21. He made 23 appearances in the 2003-04 season and spent three years with the storied club.

The 35-year-old left his mark with Club America. He played in 21 games in 2010 for Las Agualias. He also played for Morelia and Monterey. He logged 51 matches on the front line with Morelia.

His performances earned him a call up to the Mexican national team, and he was capped multiple times by El Tri.
