BLAST DEFEAT TROPICS 7-1

The Baltimore Blast hosted the Florida Tropics on Friday night in an early battle for the top spot in the Eastern Division. In the first ever matchup between the teams the Blast were victorious 7-1.

In the first quarter both teams came out with strong defensive play. No goals were recorded in the quarter. William Vanzela recorded 2 saves in the quarter. 

The first goal of the game would be scored by the Tropics when Lucas Teixeira found the back of the net at the 1:03 mark of the second. The Blast would answer with back to back goals to take the lead. Jonatas Melo recorded his first goal of the season assisted by William Vanzela and then the Blast leader in points, Tony Donatelli, put the Blast up with a goal assisted by Andrew Hoxie. At the half the Blast led 2-1. 

The Blast came out in the second half and controlled possession. No goals were scored in the third quarter. 

In the fourth quarter the Blast offense came to life with five consecutive goals. Jereme Raley started the scoring with a goal assisted by Juan Pereira. Nelson Santana would extend the Blast lead to 3 with his first goal of the season assisted by Vini Dantas. Juan Pereira would add a goal at the 4:04 mark and seconds later Travis Pittman would record his first Blast goal off an assist from Adriano Dos Santos. Andrew Hoxie would contribute his fourth goal of the season at the 7:24 mark off another Dos Santos assist. At the final buzzer the Blast defeated the Tropics 7-1. 

The Blast offense saw goals from seven different scorers on the night. Andrew Hoxie, Adriano Dos Santos, and Juan Pereira all recorded 2 points while Tony Donatelli, who leads the Blast in points, recorded what turned out to be the game winning goal. William Vanzela recorded 6 saves in the victory. 

The Blast will be back in action Saturday, December 3rd when they travel to Florida for a rematch with the Tropics.
