Blast Defeat MetroStars 11-3

Baltimore, MD (December 1, 2018) – The Baltimore Blast kicked off the 2018 MASL season by defeating the Missassauga Metro Stars (0-0) in the first ever matchup between the teams.

The Blast got off to a quick start with three goals in the first quarter. Johnny Orlando scored the first Blast goal of the season at the 1:38 mark of an assist from Jonatas Melo. Vini Dantas scored his first goal of the season seconds later off an assist from Juan Pereira. Before the conclusion of the quarter, Adriano Dos Santos extended the Blast lead to three with a power play goal assisted by Tony Donatelli.

In the second quarter the Metro Stars found their offense with back-to-back goals from Dwayne Di Rosario and Malham Babouli both assisted by Martinho Dumevski. The Blast would answer with back-to-back goals of their own both from Daniel Peruzzi. The first goal was on the power play assisted by Tony Donatelli and Josh Hughes assisted the second. At the half, the Blast led 5-2.

The Blast came out aggressive in the second half adding to their lead. Jonatas Melo recorded his first goal of the season at the 1:10 mark assisted by Andrew Hoxie and Vini Dantas followed that with his second goal of the game. At the 9:21 mark, Andrew Hoxie got in on the scoring with his first goal of the season assisted by Jonatas Melo putting the Blast up by 6. Blast goalkeeper William Vanzela and the Blast defense held the MetroStar scoreless in the quarter and at the end of the third, the Blast led 8-2.

Dwayne Di Rosario got the scoring in the fourth quarter started with his second goal of the game assisted by David Velastegui. The Blast would answer when Juan Pereira recorded his first goal of the season assisted by Johnny Orlando. At the 6:46 mark, Adriano Dos Santos recorded his second goal of the game assisted again by Tony Donatelli. Johnny Orlando sealed the victory with his second goal of the game assisted by Daniel Peruzzi. At the final buzzer, the Blast defeated the MetroStars 11-3.

The Blast we led by Vini Dantas, Johnny Orlando, Daniel Peruzzi, and Adriano Dos Santos who all recorded two goals each. Blast goalkeeper, William Vanzela, recorded 13 saves in the victory.

The Blast hit the road to play Utica tomorrow at 2p.m. EST. The Blast are back home Saturday, December 8 when they host Utica City at 6:00 p.m. EST. Tickets can be bought at ticketmaster.com or at the SECU Arena box office.
