Blast Defeat Fury 8-5

Led by 3 goals each from Vini Dantas and Tony Donatelli

The Blast improve to 3-0 at home this year, defeating the Ontario Fury 8-5. In front of a sellout crowd of 3,800, the Blast were led by hat tricks from Vini Dantas and Tony Donatelli.

The game started out as a defensive battle. Both teams had scoring chances, but the score would be tied 1-1 after the 1st quarter. Baltimore scored first on a goal by Tony Donatelli assisted by Andrew Hoxie 3:28 in to the game. Ontario would answer midway through the quarter on a goal by Leonardo De Oliveira. The second quarter got off to a quicker start, with Andy Reyes scoring for Ontario 17 seconds in to the quarter. The Blast would answer with 3 straight goals of their own. Donatelli scored his second of the game, and Vini Dantas and Jonatas Melo would each record a goal to give the Blast a 4-2 lead. Ontario would answer with a power play goal from Juan Carlos Gonzalez with 26 seconds left. The Blast led 4-3 at halftime.

The Blast got off to a good start in the second half getting two goals by Dantas to extend the lead to 6-3. Ontario would answer with 2 straight goals of their own. Gonzalez got his second goal of the game late in the 3rd quarter and a goal by Jinho Kim cut the Blast lead to 6-5 in the 4th. The Blast would answer with goals by Donatelli, his 3rd of the game, and Lucas Roque late in the 4th quarter to go up 8-5.

The Blast’s goalkeeper William Vanzela recorded 18 saves, including 10 in the 4th quarter, to close out the victory. Ontario goalkeeper Jose Miranda had 11 of his own.
