BLAST ANNOUNCE TWO PLAYERS SIGNINGS

Kapinos Re-signs with team; Blast sign Sam Guernsey

Baltimore, MD- Baltimore Blast President and General Manager, Kevin Healey, announced today that the team has re-signed goalkeeper Joey Kapinos and signed defender Sam Guernsey. Per league policy, details of the agreements were not released.

Kapinos, who is entering his seventh season in the MASL, joined the team midway through the season last year after starting goalkeeper William Vanzela went down due to injury. Kapinos filled in admirably, starting the final nine games of the regular season, going 6-3 with a 5.23 GAA and .682 save percentage. Kapinos also started the first two playoff games, going 2-0 with a 5.00 GAA and .737 save percentage.

Guernsey is entering his fifth season in the MASL, previously playing for the Tulsa Revolution and Cedar Rapids Rampage. Last season for the Rampage, Guernsey appeared in 21 games, recording seven goals and three assists to go along with 27 blocked shots. In his career, Guernsey has played in 56 games, with 17 goals, 12 assists, and 42 blocked shots.

Blast head coach, Danny Kelly, said, “We're excited to both bring Joey Kapinos back, and have Sam Guernsey join our squad for the upcoming 2018-19 season. Joey was outstanding for us in goal when we lost William to his injury. Flat out, had it not been for Joey coming in and playing as well as he did, I don't know if we put ourselves in position to win another championship. Sam is a guy that might not be on people's radar yet as far as showing up in the box score, but he's extremely versatile, and does the little things every shift that gives his team an opportunity to be successful. I think his work ethic and team first mentality will fit in well here."
