BALTIMORE SPRING CLASSIC
The Major Arena Soccer League alongside the Baltimore Blast announced today the first ever Major Arena Soccer League game to be played outdoors. The Blast Spring Classic will be held at the Johnny Unitas Stadium in Towson, MD, on March 23, 2024 featuring the Baltimore Blast and the visiting Dallas Sidekicks.
The game kicks off at 11 a.m. ET, with gates opening at 10 a.m. Season ticket holders and Blast sponsors will receive preferential seating. All other tickets will be general admission.
Johnny Unitas Stadium is the third-largest facility of its kind in the Metropolitan Baltimore Area behind M&T Bank Stadium where the NFL Ravens play and Oriole Park at Camden Yards, home to Baltimore's Major League Baseball franchise. Minnegan Field at Johnny Unitas® Stadium is home to Towson University's football, men's and women's lacrosse, field hockey and track teams.
“We are excited about this new experience for our fans,” said Commissioner Keith Tozer. “The Baltimore Spring Classic is sure to be an exciting addition to the regular season schedule and we are looking forward to the history making game.”
“As far as I know, this is the very first indoor game to be played outdoors,” Blast owner Ed Hale said. “The idea came from the NHL games played at outdoor stadiums like Soldier Field in Chicago and Yankee Stadium. It has been an idea that we have had for many years. The time is March 23, 2024, against the Dallas Sidekicks at 11 a.m. at Towson University’s Unitas Football Stadium.”
Fans can purchase general admission tickets for $15. A special $30 package includes and limited edition “Blast Spring Classic” t-shirt. There will also be regular Blast merchandise sold at the game.
Parking will be free for all Spring Classic attendees and fans can expect full concessions as well as Blast merchandise to be available for purchase.
The Blast led by Juan Pereira and Tony Donatelli will be battling for a coveted spot in the MASL Ron Newman Cup playoffs alongside their Eastern Division counterparts. The post-season powerhouses made their way to the Finals in 2023 and are the three-time Ron Newman Cup champions.
