Allen, Texas (December 4, 2021) – The St. Louis Ambush posted their first win of the 2021-22 season when they defeated the Dallas Sidekicks 8-4 Saturday night at the Allen Event Center in Allen, Texas. The win improved the Ambush to 1-2, while Dallas started the season 0-1.

Dallas controlled possession during the early part of the first quarter, a tactic that resulted in the first two goals of the contest, by Luiz Morales at 1:34 and Brenden Lee at 6:22. The Ambush got on the board when Pepe Junqueira scored on a restart at 9:11. The equalizer for St. Louis came at 12:04 when Ado Jahic placed a shot out of reach of Dallas goalkeeper Estevan Vazquez. The first period ended with a 2-2 score.

St. Louis took a 3-2 lead when Niko Karidis posted his first career goal at 2:07 of the second stanza. The Ambush went up 4-2 when Pepe tallied his second goal of the match with a shot that hit the crossbar and came down inside the goal at 7:24. Dallas went on the first power play of the night when Jahic was sent to the penalty box for a contact above the shoulder penalty at 9:34. Sam Guernsey turned the tables on Dallas when he went on a breakaway and was able to get a shot passed Vazquez to make it a 5-2 game at 10:34. Things got chippy near the end of the first half, with some shoving and verbal altercations, but no further scoring, giving the visitors a 5-2 lead and half time.

The lone goal in the third frame belonged to the Ambush, when Marcel Berry found the back of the net at 10:53, for their sixth unanswered goal and a 6-2 lead.

Just over a minute (1:04) into the fourth quarter, Vadim Cojocov scored for St. Louis to make it 7-2. With the sixth attacker in play for Dallas, William Eskay scored an empty-netter for the Ambush to increase their lead to 8-2 at 9:34. Dallas staged a late comeback attempt when Morales notched his second of the game at 12:57 then completed the hat trick at 14:12. It would prove to be too little, to late for the Sidekicks, as the Ambush came away with an 8-4 victory, their first on the young season.
