AMBUSH SIGN TWO BRAZILIAN FUTSAL STARS

St. Charles, MO (November 13, 2019) – St. Louis Louis Ambush have signed two Brazilian futsal players who Head Coach Hewerton says are anticipated to have a “significant impact” for the team. Per league and team policies, no further details were announced.

Uhelliton Bonfim de Souza, better known to futsal fans as “Oitomeia” (pronounced oy-toh-MEH-uh), will join the Ambush as a forward/midfielder.  Oitomeia in English translates to “86”, the year he was born. He will also be sporting the number 86 for the Ambush. Oitomeia has played professionally since 2004 in Brazil but his career also includes stints in Italy and Spain.  He has been on multiple teams that have won championships; the most noteworthy being Jaragua, who went undefeated to win the 2015 Brazil Cup title.  Eighty-six was selected by over 100,000 fans to play and participate in the LNF All-Star game and was one of 16 players chosen. Oitomeia is currently finishing his season in Brazil and is expected to join the Ambush in early December.

Eduardo Mota De Carvalho, better known by his nickname “Duduca” (pronounced doo-DOO-ka), joins the Ambush as a target forward. His experience in the Concordiense Futsal Association (ACF) and National Futsal League, along with the championships that he has won while playing with Chapecoense will bring a level of experience to the team.  Duduca’s ability to score consistently has led to his solicitation by Futsal teams from all over Brazil.  His stature (6’1”, 209 pounds) will add a physical presence to the Ambush offense.

Since taking over the helm of the Ambush in 2017, Hewerton has had success with importing professional futsal players and converting their skills to the American indoor game. Although both games are played indoors, futsal is played on a hard surface with no boards, while the American indoor game has boards like hockey and is played on an artificial turf.

Defenders Magui Souza and Felipe Silva, who came to the Ambush from Brazilian futsal last season, were named 2018-2019 All-MASL Honorable Mentions. Brazilian goalkeeper Paulo Nascimento, who joined the Ambush for the 2017-18 season, also received an All-MASL Honorable Mention last season.

The Ambush kick off their 2019-20 season when they welcome the defending MASL Champion Milwaukee Wave to the Family Arena on Black Friday, November 29, 2019 at 7:05 p.m. CT. Ahead of the season, the Ambush will treat fans to their annual free Fanfest, including an exhibition game against the Dallas Sidekicks, next Saturday, November 16, 2019. Fanfest activities commence at 4:30 p.m. CT with the exhibition game slated for 7:05 p.m. CT.
