WAVE READY FOR MONTERREY IN ROUND ONE OF THE MASL PLAYOFFS THIS WEEKEND

by Milwaukee Wave

After a tumultuous, injury riddled regular season, the 7-time champion Milwaukee Wave have had some time to recover and are eager to start up the opening round of the MASL Ron Newman Cup Playoffs against the team that went undefeated the entire season; the Monterrey Flash.

“Monterrey is a great team no question,” said Milwaukee Wave Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “And player for player they have no weaknesses but we took them to overtime both times we played them at home during the regular season and our goal is to take it to the next level and go into Monterrey Sunday one game up.”

All playoff series will be a home-and-home format and if the teams are tied with one win each, they will play a 15-minute Knockout Game. If they are still tied, it will advance to golden-goal overtime.

“It’s that time of year where you are not going to agree with every call the referee makes,” exclaimed Oliviero. “It’s all about what happens next. This is a fast game and we have to keep moving forward. There is no time to let emotions get in the way.”

Tickets are on sale now at MilwaukeeWave.com or at the Box Office one hour prior to first kick.

“We’re excited to get into it with Monterrey for this series,” added Oliviero. “We know they are going to produce, create and score goals however they can; we just don’t want to add to that by making mistakes we can stay away from. If we are able to do that and make the most of opportunities, we’ll have a good shot.”
