WAVE FACE RIVAL COMETS SUNDAY IN MILWAUKEE

by Pete Richmire

The 7-time champion Milwaukee Wave look to return to their winning ways Sunday afternoon at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena as they take on the rival Kansas City Comets. “This is another must win game for us,” said Milwaukee Wave Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “If we’re able to do that it will certainly help us in the standings and keep us on track for our goal of winning the eastern division.” It won’t be an easy task to get that win against Kansas City. The Comets are ranked 3rd in the MASL East with 26 points and they lead the season series against Milwaukee, 3-2.  The Wave has lost their last four games on the road but have been winning at home and are still atop the MASL East with 33 points. “We can make all the excuses in the world about our recent losses,” added Oliviero. “Bottom line is we need to show some stronger character across the board if we want to make a deep playoff run. First, we have to get past KC. We all know it won’t be an easy game but the guys are eager to get to this one. We’ll see how we show up on Sunday.”
