WAVE BLINDED BY FLASH TUESDAY NIGHT IN MEXICO; REMATCH SUNDAY IN MILWAUKEE

by Milwaukee Wave

The Wave were hoping to hand the first place and undefeated Flash their first loss of the season; instead, Monterrey served up a 9-4 victory snapping Milwaukee’s 5-game winning streak.

“Couple things you can’t do on the road against a team with the best record in the league is start slow and make mistakes to beat ourselves,” said Milwaukee Wave Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. “Monterrey is top of the table for a reason and we knew it wasn’t going to be perfect but to hand them goals on top of them being a good team and creating their own goals; it was a lot to fight back from.”

Milwaukee Wave goals were scored by Stuart Grable (Andre Hayne), Ian Bennett x2 (Augie Rey / Ricardo Carvalho), and Tony Walls (Ricardo Carvalho).

“We’re treating Thursday against the Outlaws as a must-win,” exclaimed Oliviero. “It’s a game we’re going to have to be ready to get a result. The question now is how quickly can we physically recover from this game before Thursday? Athletic Trainer Ricardo Vidal and his team have their work cut out for them.”

“We are really excited for Sunday and to battle Monterrey in front of our fans,” added Oliviero. “it’s about keeping pace and not looking past our next opponent because the Texas Outlaws are one the better teams in the league so we've got to be at our best.”
