Sockers sign Hiram “Pollo” Ruiz
The San Diego Sockers have acquired one of the most polished players in the Major Arena Soccer League. Experienced midfielder Hiram “Pollo” Ruiz joins the Sockers from rival Soles de Sonora, making him the 2nd Soles player to join the Sockers this offseason.
Hiram “Pollo” Ruiz is a young but experienced midfielder having played in Liga MX, Las Vegas Legends and most recently Soles de Sonora. “Pollo” Ruiz spent last year’s campaign with MASL Finalist Soles de Sonora and helped eliminate the Sockers from playoff contention. With 28 goals and 12 assists last season while playing in Sonora, Ruiz is capable of contributing to the offense.
“'Pollo’ Ruiz is a fantastic player with so many great qualities. He reads the game well, is so smooth on the ball and is a major workhorse. A complete player that you love to coach.” – Chiky Luna, Director of Player Personnel
Ruiz joins a sizable Mexican contingent on the Sockers. Newly acquired Raymundo Contreras, Eddie “Vaquero” Velez, Raymundo Reza, Brandon Escoto, Cesar Cerda, Erick Tovar and now Ruiz all hail from south of the border.
“I feel that we’re a couple players away from a championship team. ‘Pollo’ Ruiz is an exceptional player who will help put us over the top. We can’t wait for him to put on a Sockers jersey.” – GM Sean Bowers
Look for Hiram “Pollo” Ruiz to play an important role in the Sockers #Questfor15 during the 2017-18 MASL Season.
