Defender joins team from Mexico

ORLANDO, Florida (June 11, 2019) – The Orlando SeaWolves continue to develop their upcoming season’s roster by signing defender Irving Tovar, pending visa approval. Per team and league policies, no further details were disclosed.

Tovar started his pro career in Reynosa, Mexico where he played for the Topos of Reynosa in 2012. After playing for a couple of seasons, Tovar joined Hidalgo-la Fiera of the MASL in 2014, playing in seven games that season. In 2016, the defender won the PASL championship with the Rio Grande Valley Devils. 2017-18 saw him back in MASL with the RGV Barracudas before he would return to Reynosa where he was the team captain for the Reynosa Búfalos UAMRA of the Liga Mexicana de Futbol Rápido Profesional. Tovar most recently played in the LMFR with CFR Reynosa in 2019.

"Irving is a young defender who will continue to grow as a player with playing time.” SeaWolves General Manager Chris Kokalis said. “We look forward to adding him as another piece of the puzzle for 2019-20.”
