MASL TO RESEARCH GOAL-LINE TECHNOLOGY

KANSAS CITY (April 18, 2017) – After one of the most exciting seasons in recent  history, the Major Arena Soccer League (MASL) is already looking towards the future. The MASL improved upon many aspects of arena soccer in 2016-2017 and will continue to raise the standards and expectations for teams and fans across the league.

One of the items to be explored this offseason will be the implementation of goal-line technology. Scoring can sometimes be fast and furious in the MASL and there were many contested goals throughout the league this past season that determined the fate of games. Due to this fact, the MASL is viewing on field technology to improve the game product beginning in the 2017-2018 season. The goal line technology will be in addition to the goal line judges used during the playoffs.

In line with other leagues such as the NBA, NFL, NHL, and MLB, the MASL will investigate the use of goal-line technology to aid the on-field officials.

“Implementing technology that will improve the on field product and ensure fans and players real outcomes of games eliminating all human error. This game moves fast, technology may be the only way to keep up,” said Joshua Schaub, MASL Commissioner.
