MASL Fall Meetings, Day One

ORLANDO (Sep. 19, 2019) – Day one of the Major Arena Soccer League Fall Meetings saw the league’s team executives begin their final preparations for the 2019-2020 season. The first day was focused on the business of arena soccer.

After introducing the Mesquite Outlaws and welcoming Soles de Sonora and Rochester Lancers representatives back to the MASL, commissioner Joshua Schaub updated the assembled directors on the health of the league and the prospects for future.

Schaub presented expansion updates and strategy in both the MASL and the Second Division M2. Included in that update is the process and plans for some M2 teams to move up to the first division.

Head of Officials Ryan Cigich joined the meeting after lunch to discuss the rules and enforcement of the MASL’s officials. The MASL’s roster of referees has steadily increased in numbers and experience over the past few years. The current group includes fifteen referees that have experience with the world’s top outdoor leagues.

The day ended with MASL personnel discussing the future of the game’s broadcast and sponsorship efforts. MASLtv has seen steady increases in quality of production and distribution over the past five years and has gained interest from distributors across the digital and linear landscape. In addition, the MASL has partnered with Reely, Inc. for highlights and digital content.

Day two of the Fall Meetings will delve more into the field of play. Scheduled for discussion are the rules, playoff format and the upcoming schedule release.
