WELCOME TO TACOMA CHRIS TOTH

TACOMA, Washington (July 24, 2020) –  The Tacoma Stars continued their incredible off-season signings today by solidifying their goalkeeping duo with the signing of the 2019-20 MASL Goalkeeper of the Year Chris Toth. He will join Danny Waltman, who was re-signed earlier this off-season, in anchoring the Stars defense next season. Per team and league policies, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Toth, who has three MASL Goalkeeper of the Year Awards to his credit, played in 18 games for Ontario last season and won 11 matches including a shutout. In addition to excelling on the MASL pitch, Toth also backstops the U.S. National Beach Soccer team and represented the country in the Beach World Cup tournaments in 2013 and 2019. He was recognized as the top keeper in the 2019 CONCACAF qualifying tournament with the Golden Glove Award.

The Stars have two of the top scorers on the roster in Nick Perera and Vini Dantas, and now with the goalkeeping duo of Waltman and Toth in place, Tacoma has their eyes set on a deep run in the Ron Newman Cup playoffs in 2020-21.

When asked about the acquisition of Toth and the off-season moves of the Stars, Tacoma Head Coach Perera said “Our offseason goal was to bring in players who know how to win and want to contribute immediately to this organization. I believe with the addition of Chris Toth, we have cemented the best goalkeeping partnership in league history. The Stars will have the two best goalkeepers in the MASL working together for the same common goal. We are very proud that Chris has chosen to join the Stars family, and are excited for the impact his presence will have on our team.”
